Joying customer tells us this unit is worth to be Highly recommended!!He said that" What can I say about this radio. To sum it up in one word....AWESOME! It's like having a tablet installed in your car but so much easier to implement. I installed this into my 2000 Pontiac Trans Am. I also installed the 10.1" version in my 1999 Trans Am.
I removed a Pioneer Avic-8100nex to install this. The pioneer costs about 4x as much and the Joying blows it out of the water. The display is gorgeous, and the capabilities are just incredible. It runs Android 4.4.4 which is KitKat and a bit old but still plenty good for a car radio. There's talk Joying will be releasing a Lollipop 5.1 upgrade around July.
Sound quality is fantastic. Deep bass with the subwoofer output and the highs are great. I owned an older dual core android car stereo last year and the sound wasn't that good but they've definitely made some major improvements. I'd say my Pioneer had slightly better sound quality but when you compare the price and all the other features of the Joying model, it wins hands down.
One of the best features that has been added is the timer function. You can set up to a 2 hour timer so when you shut your car off and come back in that time period, the radio is booted instantly. It basically shuts off the amps and screen and just uses enough power to keep the processor running which pulls literally no power at all. I tested it on my ammeter and it only pulled 70mA when in sleep mode. At that rate with a car battery, it could stay in sleep for a couple weeks and not drain your battery enough to stop your car from starting.
The quad core is snappy and never lags. It only has 1GB of RAM for programs but it's a car radio....how much do you need. If you do want more, you can always root it to 2GB. I had plenty for all my music apps, weather, IGO navigation, and more.
Steering wheel controls are a bit tricky to hook up. The customer service is very friendly but were not able to help me out. I put together a youtube video in detail for this. In youtube, just type in "Android Car Stereo Steering Wheel Control Installation"
Also remember this is not a standard Double Din size. It's slightly oversized. In my car it wasn't a problem and required zero dash or bezel modifications with the Metra bezel. Your car may differ."
